Hello World! Meet Cherry, a tall porch gnome who serves as a holiday decoration at homes with red doors, to match his red pointed hat. His long white and gray bread allows for him to stay warm in the cold, and his light lets him see his feet in the snowy weather. Throughout his many years of being a decoration, Cherry has utilized the moments of stillness to reflect on the wonders of the human world, and how each human is always carrying massive bags past him. His nose has always picked up on different scents, which has led to have even bigger curiosity about what food they may eat, since he cannot do so. However, due to having no navigational tools or a phone, he is unable to leave his post outside of his family's massive red door. UNTIL NOW......
One afternoon, Cherry saw his family carrying bags and saw a glimpse of a receipt sticking out that said "mall." In that moment, Cherry decided to go to a mall himself. He walked to the nearest bus stop, where a bunch of gray pigeons were mindlessly walking around, almost blocking him from entering the bus. Once he got off, he walked through the mall's massive glass doors and immediately saw a collection of rides, with little kids screaming while their parents videotaped them. He was not very fond of all the noises the humans were making, so he walked to a pretzel shop and bought himself a massive, salty pretzel. He then proceeded to walk towards the same glass doors to exit the mall and take another massive blue bus home. It had been such a fun day for Cherry, but he was looking forward to standing still again.
As Cherry plated his black boots on the house front porch, he reflected on the day he had. Not only had he become scared of young children, but he got to experience human food for the first time. Being able to navigate a new place with no mapping system felt pretty impressive too. For a while there, he felt like one of the humans, which for someone his felt special. Even if it had been only one day, he truly felt like he was apart of something bigger then being a decoration.
